However, even though I'd crushed its facial exoskeleton, it still lunged at me with its teeth bared.
I drew back my left hand. The muscles in my shoulder flexed rapidly as I clenched my fist and gritted my teeth, putting some of my strength behind the blow. The instant my arm swung,
I felt
the agonizing pain of my bones being crushed.
"Gaaah!!!"
"Roar!!"
"Bang!"
"Pff!"
My left fist struck its chin. Its blood sprayed across the ceiling, and the tremendous impact instantly turned its head into a mass of bloody mush that splattered against the ceiling. Only its hard upper body remained, swaying in place before falling backward.
"Splut~ splut~"
Standing still, I gritted my teeth and endured the pain in my left arm and right hand, eyes closed. Thick blood dripped from the ceiling, along with bits of dark red flesh that splattered on the floor.
"You've been infected. Don't move."
Wild Wolf's voice came from behind me, sounding a little rushed. A moment later, a syringe plunged into my shoulder. But right now...this pain was nothing to me—barely a drizzle. The bones in my right hand were fractured, and the bone in my upper left arm was shattered. The pain made my whole body tremble.
Cool liquid flowed into my body from my right shoulder. Then Wild Wolf pulled a towel from somewhere and wiped some of the blood off my right hand. My palm was an unusually healthy red, but the virus clearly hadn't gotten in.
"Your strength..."
As he cleaned my hand, Wild Wolf noticed that three of my fingers were broken. He raised an eyebrow.
"Don't... damn well waste time. Hurry up and take me to a doctor. The bones in my left arm are shattered."
My left arm hung limply at my side.
