Tai Hai noticed the young man and turned, about to say something. Suddenly, a huge hand clamped around his
head, and a booming voice
roared.
"Get out of my way!"
As the words rang out, Tai Hai felt a tremendous force wrench his head and neck. His whole body suddenly went light, and he was
thrown aside.
There was no need to ask who had thrown Tai Hai. It was Hu Lai. After tossing him away, Hu Lai strode forward, and no one dared
stop him. Anyone could see
that the big oaf was furious now.
Provoke someone powerful but rational, and you might still survive. Provoke a fool, though, especially one
strong enough to kill you in an instant, and
you were asking for death.
Tai Hai hit the ground. His ears had already been ringing, and now pain shot through his entire body. He could not catch his breath.
He had not passed out, but the pain
left him unable to speak for a while.
By then, the others had noticed what was happening. Some looked ready to say something, but after glancing at Hu Lai's back, they stayed silent.
It seemed this guy had some reputation in the base, but nobody liked him.
Otherwise, someone would have stepped forward to stop him.
Then, as if things were not chaotic enough, the woman who had been leaning on two soldiers suddenly dropped her weight at the waist and
sprang upward. The two soldiers
supporting her lost their grip. Neither reacted at first. They had never expected a woman who had gone
limp to try to get out,
and for a moment they stood there, stunned.
The woman did not freeze. While they were distracted, she whipped around and charged straight toward the exit.
