A utility pole, but who could have guessed that the moment I grabbed it, the whole pole would be yanked straight out of the ground? I let go in a panic,
and clung desperately to the muddy ground with both hands,
while the utility pole went flying.
I watched helplessly as the thick concrete pole snapped, pulling entire rows of power lines along with it,
and couldn't help feeling shocked.
If I were in dragon form, this weather probably wouldn't be a problem,
but as I was now, I definitely couldn't withstand it.
I kept moving forward, one hand against the wall as I tested my way along. I glanced at the buildings around me, but I still couldn't make out
much.
Fortunately, the little shops along the road all had signs, and their names were marked on the map too. I looked up at the shop beside me
and nodded.
It seemed I wasn't far from the boy's home.
The distance hadn't been great to begin with, so I kept going.
You wouldn't believe it, but it took me nearly an hour to cover that less-than-one-kilometer stretch.
Every step was a struggle.
When I reached the courtyard, I recognized the house at once from the boy's description. This had to be it. But now,
what put me in a bad mood was that
half of the main house in the courtyard had already collapsed. The other half swayed in the wind and rain, its tiles constantly blown into the air by the howling gale.
It looked ready to come down at any moment.
At the sight of it, my heart sank. Honestly, I really did want to save these people, even if there were only a few of them.
If they could be saved, then I had to try.
