Someone accidentally fell into a bug pit and was instantly swallowed by the giant, chrysanthemum-shaped teeth of a burrowing worm. Then,

Their bodies were covered in thick, composite armor. Even heavy tanks couldn't pose much of a threat to them. Once
these armored bugs started pushing forward, they were nearly invincible.

The soldiers were bitten in half. The enormous armored bugs charged through the human ranks, attacking wildly. No one could escape, and as more and more bugs burrowed up from underground, all sorts of other bugs appeared as well.
Agile jumping bugs, humanoid bugs shaped much like people, sickle bugs with razor-sharp, mantis-like hooked blades all over their bodies,
and fire-breathing bugs that could spew scorching flames from their tails. In no time, the Athens survivor base had become a living hell. The bugs slaughtered everyone in a frenzy, as if they were searching for something.
As the gunfire gradually died away, the human population plummeted. In less than half an hour, a survivor base of more than a hundred thousand people had been razed to the ground.
