Perhaps it would help with what came next.
"The lower half of his body was broken off by force and torn away. Judging by the torn muscle, it was probably some kind of thick claw or a saw."
As Yuxuan spoke, Little Knife hesitated, then pulled out a small notebook and began taking notes.
Yuxuan had no idea what Little Knife intended to write down.
She examined the man's abdomen. A great deal of blood had flowed from the wound, leaving a trail three or four meters long. It looked as though he had crawled some distance after his body was torn apart.
"His nails are broken, probably from digging them into the ground. He died faceup, and it looks like he fought back before he died."
The girl examined the corpse's abdomen again.
"His organs were removed."
As she spoke, she gently pressed the corpse's chest.
"His ribs are broken outward. Something must have burrowed into his abdomen, thrashed around, and devoured his organs. He died in terror and agony."
With that, she returned to her original position, then walked to the corpse's head and looked into the distance along its line of sight.
"The body faces west, and most of the signs of fighting point that way too. Whether it was half-corpses, berserkers, or something else, they must have attacked from that direction and swept straight through."
She checked the rest of the corpse but found nothing else.
"He'd used up all his pistol ammunition before he died. In the end, he fought back with his bare arms, but it wasn't enough."
Frowning, she pried open the corpse's clenched fist.
"Strange... What's this?"
Yuxuan took a tissue from her pocket and picked a dark red strand from beneath the corpse's nails. It looked like shredded meat.
"Little Knife."
