Ning Jing shouted at me. I wasn't angry or surprised. If it had been me, seeing Long Tianfeng treated that way,
I probably would have lost my temper even worse
than Ning Jing. In fact... I might very well have fired a plasma shot at the XZ Military Region in a fit of blind rage.
Thinking about it, I put myself in her shoes. Even if it meant falling out with the XZ Military Region, I couldn't stand by and do nothing.
"Ning Jing, calm down. I'll go with you."
Ning Jing stood up, ready to hurry toward the Research Department, but stopped in her tracks when she heard me.
"Fang Yuxuan... we've only known each other for a day. You don't have to help me like this."
"Heh, it's only been a day, but Ning Jing, you've already boarded this pirate ship. If you want to get off, have you asked me,
the captain, for permission?"
I smiled, walked over to Ning Jing as she stood there looking grim, and brushed the dirt off her shoulder. Above us,
the rain was still pouring down,
but she paid it no mind. Instead, she suddenly raised her head.
"You really want to help me? Even if this makes you fall out with the XZ Military Region and delays your grand plan?"
I shrugged, looked at Ning Jing, and said,
"Even if we fall out, the XZ Military Region can't do anything to me, can they?"
With a helpless smile, I headed toward the Research Department. It happened to be on the northern side of the military region,
