This window also faced west.
When I turned back toward the window, I could see the distant city wall.
And a second later, a gigantic claw hooked directly over the wall!
Boom!
The wall was taller than a five-story building, and that claw rested on top of it. That proved that, no matter how heavy this bug was, this
creature had to stand at least
twenty meters tall.
Sometimes, I wondered whether these creatures defied physics. How could bodies that enormous even hold
themselves up?
But whenever I thought about certain insects, I stopped doubting it.
An ant could lift something four hundred times its own weight without being crushed. Did that obey the laws of physics?
Don't tell me it was because ants were tiny. That was four hundred times, not four.
A dozen or so ants could move something over five thousand times their own weight. Did that make sense?
All I could say was that humanity was still terribly ignorant. Before humans discovered them, who could have imagined that some diplodocid dinosaurs
could reach eighty tons, or even
around a hundred tons?
Those dinosaurs could support their bodies with flesh and bone alone, so the existence of some gigantic bugs wasn't
impossible either.
Besides, the hardness of bugs' exoskeletons was in no way inferior to humans', and with their miraculous way of applying force,
no matter how enormous they grew, I wouldn't
find it surprising.
The gigantic bug's claw hooked over the wall like a scythe, and the wall, originally more than ten meters thick,
was effortlessly torn apart by that gigantic
claw in an instant. At the same time, gunfire and cannon fire rang out, and the entire XZ Military Region went wild.
Boom!
Ratatatat!
Boom!
Rooaar!
Gunfire and cannon fire kept echoing all around us.
