"So it's something like a light tank?"
I asked, puzzled. Hao Zhong nodded, then shook his head.
"If you go by appearance, there isn't much difference between the two. You could call them both tanks, and it wouldn't really matter. But in actual
use, tanks are geared toward charging,
and their firepower isn't as strong as a self-propelled gun's. They have thick armor, though, while self-propelled guns are geared more toward supporting from the rear. They have greater range and firepower,
but their armor is too thin for
close-range charges."
"So it's the difference between heavy and light cavalry?"
I answered without thinking. Hao Zhong paused, lowered his head to consider it, then nodded.
"Exactly. That's a very good comparison. Heavy cavalry rely on thick armor to charge into battle and break a path. By contrast,
light cavalry use their range to
defeat the enemy. It's a fitting analogy. You seem to know a thing or two about military matters."
Hao Zhong looked at me curiously, as if asking how I'd come to understand it that way.
Heh. Was I going to tell him I'd read it in a few historical novels?
Of course not.
"Mm."
I nodded and didn't waste any more words on it.
Come on! I'm Right Here! (Monthly Ticket Bonus Chapter)
"In that case, Regimental Commander Hao, arrange the forces as you see fit. I'll leave it to you. Within thirty minutes, I
want the civilians separated out.
As soon as the reinforcements arrive, send troops with me to clear the road."
"Yes, ma'am!"
Hao Zhong saluted, then immediately took out his radio and began issuing orders.
I glanced back at Hao Zhong as he walked away. You really couldn't judge a book by its cover. Anyone who made regimental commander had
something going for him.
