At the thought, I couldn't help laughing at myself.

The door opened, and Ning Jing walked in. She seemed to notice the smile at the corner of my mouth, and she smiled too as she asked, "What happened? You look so happy."
As she spoke, Ning Jing walked over with a stack of documents and set them on the desk.
"Nothing. Is this today's work?"
"Mm."
Ning Jing nodded, then glanced at me. She seemed to have something to say, but couldn't bring herself to say it. I grew curious.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?"
Some of the documents were about digging irrigation canals, some concerned serious criminals, and others were requests for improved equipment. After a few glances, I lost interest and tossed them onto the desk.
"Yuxuan, there's something I don't know whether I should tell you."
"Hmm?"
I paused. Ning Jing had never seemed so hesitant before. It didn't suit her.
Seeing the troubled look on her face, I straightened up.
"Tell me. What is it?"
"It's about... Juanjuan's boyfriend."
"Juanjuan? What happened to that kid?"
I frowned and looked at Ning Jing.
Seeing the troubled expression on Ning Jing's face, along with a trace of worry, I grew anxious and pressed her.
"What happened?!"
Ning Jing looked at me and pressed her lips together.
"That kid might be... one of True Dragon's people."
My brows instantly knitted together. I stared hard at Ning Jing, and seeing her hesitant expression, I thought I must have misheard. I asked again, enunciating each word.
"You! Say! That! Again!"
