"Roar..."
The startled cry that escaped me no longer sounded human. That didn't surprise me anymore. My memories had
already begun to break off around the age of fifteen.
Everything before that was gone, but at least my sense of self hadn't been completely erased yet.
I didn't know what was causing it. It seemed the older a memory was, the sooner it vanished. Even my understanding of who I was
had begun to blur.
"Roar!"
As these thoughts ran through my mind, my body instinctively grabbed the edge of the insect nest. But my enormous weight was more than part of the nest
could bear. My whole body slid straight down its side.
"Rumble..."
It wasn't a long fall, though.
In my current state, I was as tall as a thirty-story building even on all fours. When I stood up,
I was nearly two hundred meters tall. I couldn't judge how tall I'd be
on my hind legs, but it had to be at least five hundred meters. My wingspan could probably reach a thousand.
My body looked bulky, yet strangely, it didn't feel bulky at all. There wasn't the slightest delay in any movement.
When I hit the ground, I rolled. My suddenly expanded field of view had thrown me off, and I hadn't raised a claw in time to catch
myself. After one full roll across the ground,
I got up and turned toward the insect nest.
In that brief glimpse, I'd seen its interior. Countless passages ran through the triangular structure, which was almost entirely hollow. Inside,
the routes branched in every direction. At the very bottom, I'd spotted a huge insect. That had to be the mother insect.
