Simply put, the higher-ups on Capitol Hill did not yet take people with extraordinary abilities or the Divine Tree seriously. They did not hold a candle to technology.
If they were really that miraculous, would so many civilizations and factions with long-standing extraordinary traditions still have let an immigrant nation that rose solely through technology claim the throne as the world's number one?
As for losing face over on Lihèn Island and potentially shaking their hegemony... what could they gain by coming over to save face? Setting aside the value of extraordinary people and the Divine Tree, they would not get a drop of oil even if they squeezed the entire island dry.
Did mobilizing troops not cost money? Forget aircraft carriers—even just sending ships all the way over, how much would an entire fleet cost from top to bottom? Who was going to pay for that?
America's soldiers were all very busy. Moving personnel here would leave gaps elsewhere.
No matter if all they lost here was face, if other places lacked personnel, then even a single day's delay would mean losses in actual, tangible oil!
Looking at it that way, the issue on Lihèn Island did not seem so humiliating after all. After all, knowledge of extraordinary people was officially kept secret in this world.
It could be said that over ninety-nine percent of people did not even know extraordinary people existed. And among those extraordinary people, how many knew about Nason Island?
If absolutely no one knew, if it would not spread, if it could not shake votes or approval ratings, then such a loss of face did not count as a loss of face at all on Capitol Hill.
As for other countries, America had not said anything, yet they still wanted to invoke previous agreements.
