Whoever they were, Wu Xie felt he at least had to meet them. After all, they had come looking for him.

Later, though, he learned that the times had long since changed. Nowadays, people used large boats and trawl nets to catch fish. Otherwise, a day's hard work might not even be enough to feed a family.
There were also massive fishing vessels that went directly into the open sea, even on distant-water expeditions, often staying out for months before returning.
The medium-sized green-hulled fishing boat, painted white, looked sturdy enough to withstand wind and waves. It was just rather different from the gleaming white vessels the Tiga Clone had imagined. As he climbed the metal steps with their raised patterns onto the deck, he glanced at the tackle box in his hand and felt a strangely jarring disconnect.
Forget it. I'll cast a line first and test the waters.
