Almost instantly, Wu Xie leaped back, pulled the air rifle from his pack, and aimed it at the pool's surface. His voice trembled slightly.

"W-what is this? Is something underwater breathing out bubbles?"

Then Wu Xie suddenly remembered something, and his face went pale.

"Could that Sea Monkey have circled around and be coming up from here?"

Legend had it that those things held grudges. It was entirely possible that it had chased after them all this way because they had hurt it earlier. And while that shot had wounded it, it definitely had not killed it.

Maybe the Sea Monkey had gotten farther away, grown angrier the more it thought about it, and taken a long detour straight into the tomb to settle the score with them.

With that thought, Wu Xie stared at the unceasing bubbles in the pool, goosebumps rising all over his body. He felt as though, at any moment, a huge, furry, scale-covered face might burst from the pitch-black water.

Second by second, Wu Xie kept his eyes fixed on the pool. The bubbles continued streaming up from the bottom, but whatever was down there never surfaced. Then, with a dull thud, Wu Xie nearly fired his gun in fright. Yet the next moment, the water level began to drop.

Wu Xie: "...?"

"Looks like those bubbles weren't from a Sea Monkey, but from a mechanism beneath the pool."

Watching the whirlpool emerge on the water's surface, the Tiga Clone could not help but sigh in admiration.

It had to be said: the ancient architecture in this world, as well as in the world of Ghost Blows Out the Light, was absurdly advanced. It was hard to imagine that this was a completely self-contained tomb, originally constructed inside a massive ship.
