The accident during flying class was just a minor incident, and even at the time it happened, few people took it to heart.
Not to mention beginners on flying broomsticks, even professional Quidditch players have accidents and even fatalities every year.
Klon's bad mood caused by the accident also ended before lunch.
"Hey! Adam, wanna go watch the Quidditch team practice? They're planning to train new tactics today!"
Klon bounced into the dorm, only to see Adam petting his two kittens while writing something. Klon knew Adam was going to turn him down.
Sure enough, Adam said without looking up, "No, you go ahead. I'm not very interested in Quidditch training."
Watching Quidditch matches is one thing. Although the game balance is terrible, the competition is definitely top-notch, and in most cases, it's mixed with violence. No wonder it's the most popular and widespread sport among Wizards.
But training is very boring, just repetitive passing drills, practicing catching fast-moving golf balls, and so on. Adam went once before and lost interest. If he were free, he could treat it as a walk, but he doesn't have time right now.
"Oh, come on, Adam, come with me. I remember you finished all your homework... What's this?"
Klon shuffled behind Adam, discovering that the parchment was covered in writing that seemed to dance, making his head spin.
"It's a paper about Potions."
A word was halfway written when the ink ran a little low. Adam calmly cast a Refilling Charm on the quill's shaft.
"A Potions paper? That shouldn't be homework. Why are you writing this?"
"Remember when I went to Professor Snape to ask questions after Potions Class the other day? He told me that if I could prove my ability, I wouldn't have to repeat those Potions operations that I've already mastered in class. Instead, I could put those more advanced knowledge into practice, and then he threw me a copy of Advanced Potions."
Adam patted the book next to him.
The Potions knowledge in Advanced Potions is far beyond the syllabus for first-year students, but for Adam, it's just a difficult problem.
Although he thought Professor Snape was probably just using this book to intimidate him, even if the paper he wrote in the end wasn't that outstanding, as long as it had substance, Professor Snape would scold him a few times and then grant him the right to brew different potions from his classmates during class.
But Adam still wanted to try his best to give Professor Snape a surprise.
"I don't really understand you geniuses."
Klon thought he could get out of homework, but it turned out he was skipping the current homework to do harder homework, so he quickly moved away from the parchment.
"Then Bernard and I will go watch!"
"Okay, be careful not to get hit by a ball."
Don't ask, because that's happened before... although not to Hufflepuff.
Adam spent another two days perfecting his paper, and after three rounds of checking and revisions, he finally transcribed the final draft in beautiful handwriting onto parchment, all the parchments connected together being four feet long.
After that thick stack of parchment was placed on his desk, Professor Snape was unusually silent for a long time before speaking:
"The accumulation of words does not improve the quality of a paper, Mr. Reed."
"I know, Professor, I've tried to streamline the wording as much as possible."
Adam shrugged. His paper used Advanced Potions as an introduction, and he sorted out his knowledge and understanding of Potions.
Seriously, after writing this paper, his Potions level seemed to have improved. Sometimes after writing the later parts, he realized that his understanding of the earlier parts was not deep enough, so he went back and revised them. Otherwise, he wouldn't have finished it after several drafts.
Professor Snape picked up the paper and glanced at it. He originally just wanted to take a quick look, and had already picked up the first page to turn it, but after reading a few lines, he couldn't help but frown and went back to the first line to read it word by word.
"...You can go back for now. I'll find you after I've finished reading it."
After reading the first paragraph, Professor Snape put down the paper and said.
"Okay, thank you, Professor Snape!"
Professor Snape had also developed some resistance to Adam. At first, when he saw Adam's appearance, which was completely different from other students in front of him, Professor Snape would frown, turn his head, and look slightly disgusted, but now Professor Snape could nod with a natural expression.
Walking out of Professor Snape's office, Adam stroked his chin and thought.
Could he also go to other professors and do the same thing to improve his learning progress?
Although the progress of transforming Wizard spells into Mage magic was slow due to his limited magical knowledge, his speed of learning spells was indeed progressing rapidly.
Hogwarts' teaching staff can be said to be quite luxurious. Apart from the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, the professors of every other subject are top talents in the industry. As the saying goes, it's a loss not to take advantage of a bargain. Even Professor Dumbledore, he still occasionally drops by after learning the Portkey spell by building a good relationship with Fawkes. There's no reason to let go of the other professors' wool. It would be difficult to have this opportunity after graduation.
So on this sunny afternoon, Adam walked into the offices of the professors with the pace of someone rushing to the supermarket to grab discounted eggs, and then returned with a stack of large books, fully loaded.
"Adam, did you go to the library?"
When Adam returned, only Uther was in the dorm. He looked at Adam with some surprise:
"I just came back from the library. How didn't I see you?"
"These books aren't borrowed from the library."
Adam put the books in his hand on the bedside table and arranged them neatly.
"They were borrowed from the professors."
"Professors... which professor?"
"Many professors. This one was given by Professor McGonagall, these two were given by Professor Flitwick, this one was given by Professor Sprout..."
"Wait... wait a minute... Did you go to some kind of book exchange hosted by the professors? Why would the professors lend you books?"
"Because I feel that the pace of the content in class is a bit slow, and I want to expand some new knowledge."
Uther wanted to say something but hesitated, wearing a "Do you even hear yourself?" expression. After a long pause, he finally spoke:
"The professors agreed?"
"Sort of agreed. Professor McGonagall and the others initially advised me to focus on building a solid foundation, but I spent some time persuading them..."
Adam blinked, deciding to skip the specific details of the persuasion.
Like turning a teacup in Professor McGonagall's office into a cockatoo, or demonstrating a wandless, wordless Levitation Charm for Professor Flitwick... things like that.
Professor Sprout was, comparatively, the hardest to convince. But after Adam's persistent coaxing, the gentle witch reluctantly gave him a book after testing him with a few questions and agreed to take Adam to Greenhouse Three to care for the Mandrakes on the weekend.
"So much stuff... can you really handle it all?"
Uther felt a headache just looking at the stack of books.
"Actually, it's not too bad. I've been self-studying all along, and I still have time to hang out with you guys, right? Now that I have professors guiding me, the study time hasn't actually increased, but the learning efficiency is definitely higher than when I was self-studying."
Suppi wasn't on the bed, so Adam picked up Kero and took a sniff:
"Effective learning makes me happy!"
Unlike the tedious memorization of knowledge in his previous life, ninety-nine percent of which he would never use after graduation, learning magical knowledge was like an addiction to fitness. This feeling of constant self-improvement was truly fascinating.
"...As long as you're happy."
