On the third shelf of the cabinet sat another book, quite thick. Nicolas Flamel had Adam take it down from the shelf and place it on the table.
"This is a contact book."
Nicolas Flamel, with a hint of nostalgia on his face, patted the cover of the book.
"I heard from Emma that you've only just been exposed to the wizarding world, but you must have seen the moving, talking portraits at Hogwarts, right? Although not many, I did make some friends, and some of them, fearing that Perenelle and I would be too lonely, sent me their portraits."
"It's a pity that I, as an elder, must leave after only meeting you a few times, so I'm giving you this book, hoping that the friends inside can offer a little help to your life in place of Perenelle and me."
Nicolas Flamel gently pushed the book towards Adam.
"Every wizard in this book was once a legend, and their lives were far more exciting than this old man who's wasted half his life. These portraits took a lot of effort on their part, and although they aren't the real people, they have the same thinking ability as they did. When you feel lost, perhaps you can try asking them for help—don't be shy, I've already told them about this."
Adam swallowed and touched the cover.
"Are your and your wife's portraits in this book too?"
"I'm sorry, child, we didn't have time to make our own portraits."
"Then perhaps I could have a photo of you both?"
Nicolas Flamel paused, then reached out and touched Adam's head.
"Of course."
Then Nicolas Flamel seemed to suddenly remember something.
"Oh, right, the owners of the last two portraits in this book haven't passed away yet. If you encounter any danger or difficulty, you can try contacting them through the portraits—if they have their own portraits with them."
"Two portraits... who are they?"
"One is your headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, and the other is also a child from Hogwarts. You may have heard his name; it's Newt Scamander."
Newt Scamander?!
Adam's eyes lit up.
Not knowing Adam's inner thoughts, Nicolas Flamel led Adam back to the sofa.
"And then there's this. Take it, child, and open it up."
Nicolas Flamel handed Adam a piece of parchment, which looked rather old.
Adam unfolded the parchment, which was covered in dense writing.
What is this?
"Including this place beneath our feet, this contains the addresses of 192 properties I own around the world, each protected by the Fidelius Charm. I'm giving them to you."
Nicolas Flamel said casually.
During his and his wife's travels around the world, to ensure their safety, he didn't choose to stay in hotels, but instead bought a property in each place he went—anyway, he wasn't short of money.
Then Nicolas Flamel waved his hand over the parchment, and a few scattered addresses were marked in red, adding a sentence:
"These addresses marked in red are known to others besides Perenelle and me."
No need for too much reminding; one sentence was enough.
Adam nodded and re-rolled the parchment, putting it away.
Nicolas Flamel's last inheritance was a key.
"This is the key to Gringotts Vault Number 4."
Nicolas Flamel took the key out of his pocket and placed it in Adam's hand.
"There aren't any Galleons or anything like that inside, but I don't think you need them anyway."
Nicolas Flamel smiled slightly at the new owner of the Sorcerer's Stone.
"After opening the vault, you'll see it's filled with papers that take up half the vault. Those are my manuscripts from a lifetime of studying alchemy and magic. If you're not interested in them, please help me donate them to my and Perenelle's alma mater—Beauxbatons."
"The other half of the vault is filled with some of my collections or inventions... most of them aren't anything precious, but they're quite interesting. I hope you'll like them."
After saying so much in one breath, telling stories and giving away inheritances, it was clear that it had brought a great burden to Nicolas Flamel, but looking at his sparkling eyes, he seemed quite excited.
After handing the last key to Adam, Nicolas Flamel had him leave and refused Adam's request to attend their funeral.
"We don't plan to hold a funeral. After meeting you, I've said everything I wanted to say to everyone I wanted to say goodbye to. In the last moments of our lives, please let us enjoy a peaceful world for two."
For the Flamels, their death date was set by themselves, so they were incredibly calm when dealing with their affairs, even able to say goodbye to everyone they wanted to. A funeral wasn't really necessary.
After telling Adam the date of his death and where his grave would be, and giving Adam a photo of him and his wife as promised, Nicolas Flamel closed the door.
Adam stared at the door in a daze. He knew that this was the last time he would see Nicolas Flamel.
"What's wrong with Adam?"
Eating cake, Kero looked at Adam and couldn't help but ask Suppi beside him.
"You're asking me? How should I know?"
Suppi rolled his eyes.
"Why don't you put down your fork and go ask him?"
"No! Otherwise, you'll definitely eat all the remaining cake!"
"That's slander!"
Hearing the commotion of the two Clow Reed guardian beasts, Adam snapped back to reality and couldn't help but smile as he watched the furballs fighting.
Nicolas Flamel's story had reached its satisfying conclusion, and his own story was just beginning, wasn't it?
"Justice rains from above!"
A cat, a bit too large for the energy-saving Kero and Suppi, joined the fray.
"Hey! Adam! Over here!"
The energetic Klon was always the most active one in the dorm, and Adam heard his call as soon as he arrived at the airport.
Walking over, Bernard and Klon were already there. Klon was accompanied by a woman, while Bernard was alone.
"My parents have clients they booked long ago, and it's not convenient for two ordinary people to go anyway."
Sure enough, it was about what Adam had expected.
"Adam, long time no see! My parents are also busy, this is my sister Kelly, this is Adam I told you about~"
"Hello."
Kelly sized Adam up, clearly curious about this roommate her younger brother had described as so amazing.
"Hello."
After politely greeting Kelly, Adam also introduced his grandfather—perhaps Emma was feeling a little down because of the Flamel couple, so she didn't come with Adam.
"Now all that's left is Eugene... oh! He's here!"
Klon had just raised his hand to wave when he exclaimed in surprise:
"Eugene's outfit... wow~"
"Long time no see."
Wearing an explorer's outfit that looked like it came straight out of a movie, carrying a large backpack, and leading an similarly dressed old woman, Eugene walked over and nodded to everyone:
"My parents are busy, this is my grandmother."
"Hello, everyone."
Eugene's grandmother looked very kind, and from Eugene's personality, one could roughly guess what kind of person the grandmother who raised him was.
With everyone present, the flight was unsurprisingly delayed.
"Does anyone want something to eat?"
It was lunchtime, and Adam opened his backpack, which had its space expanded using a Wheel Card, and took out a pile of pre-packaged rice balls:
"We have teriyaki eel, black pepper beef, honey-glazed char siu, and vegetable mayonnaise, four flavors~"
