Back home in London, Adam saw Hogwarts' letter and remembered that he still had new textbooks to buy this year.
Although Adam had practically bought out Flourish and Blotts before, Gilderoy Lockhart had published new books over the past year—yes, Adam had bought all of his old works too.
After all, aside from being skilled with Memory Charms, the man had no other real abilities, but the experiences he had stolen were genuine enough and held some reference value.
Besides, Adam had to admit that Lockhart was quite a good writer. Being able to make real adventures sound so gripping was a talent in itself. Even as mere novels, his books were not bad.
"When I go to Diagon Alley, I might as well check the vault Nicolas Flamel left behind..."
Thinking of Nicolas Flamel, Adam could not help feeling a little downcast. He set aside the book list Hogwarts had sent him.

Opening it, he found that it was from Harry. Earlier, Adam had sent Harry a letter to confirm which Snowy Owl Ares had taken a liking to. Harry had been unable to reply because his window had been barred shut. He had only managed to send this letter after being taken to the Weasleys' home, but Adam had already been in Egypt by then.
Fortunately, there was nothing important in the letter. Harry only wrote that he was happy to receive Adam's letter, explained why he had not replied, and then excitedly went on at length about how amazing wizarding families were.
