How many constellations were there in the sky?

Perhaps some people would answer eighty-eight.

This number had been established by the International Astronomical Union before Adam transmigrated, dividing all visible stars except the sun into eighty-eight constellations, leaving no star in the entire sky unaccounted for.

But in the era before the eighty-eight-constellation system was established, there had been far fewer constellations in the heavens. To the ancients, not every single star needed to belong to a constellation.

At this moment, Adam was attempting to create a Celestial Spirit Key for an ancient constellation that did not belong to the eighty-eight constellations.

Starlight continuously descended from the sky, eventually gathering before Adam into four silver rings of differing designs.

They were Vela, Carina, Puppis, and Pyxis.

One could tell from their names alone that at least the first three sounded like mere components, making them seem somewhat out of place among the other constellations. And that was indeed the case.

Before the era of the eighty-eight constellations, these four constellations had belonged to a single one—Argo Navis, the constellation said in myth to have been formed from Jason's Argo.

Although Jason's story had ended rather tragically... or perhaps satisfyingly? Still, he had brought it upon himself. During the quest for the Golden Fleece, the ship had indeed gathered many heroes of Greek mythology aboard it, an absolute all-star lineup.

If he could combine these four constellations into Argo Navis's Celestial Spirit Key, it would surely become an exceptionally dependable ship.

But that would also bring a problem...

Feeling the spiritual essence within the four rings, Adam sighed.

The plan to combine and summon Argo Navis was indeed feasible, but the issue was exactly as expected—Argo Navis had been split into four constellations because it was simply too large.
