Such examples sparked a craze in the Ancient Saint Domain for capturing the young of special Demonic Beasts. People even went after the offspring of Gray-skinned Porcupore Kings.
And this craze for King Demonic Beasts really did let a few small Lineages get lucky and acquire the young of special Demonic Beasts, allowing them to rise to prominence.
But after a while, people noticed a few problems.
First, Demonic Beasts that weren't born as the kings of their species, but instead rose from ordinary beasts to become kings, had little potential and absolutely no chance of possessing a Saint Vein.
Only young beasts born as the kings of their species had truly exceptional potential and a good chance of possessing a Saint Vein.
These Demonic Beasts all displayed certain distinctive traits from birth.
Take the Demon Wolf King, for example. Young Demon Wolf Kings were born with white fur on their foreheads and chests.
Ordinary Unicorn Green Demon Wolves only developed these traits after advancing to become Demon Wolf Kings.
Gray-skinned Porcupine Kings had a tuft of golden hair on their heads. Blazing Fire Bird Kings had three feathers sprouting from their heads.
Whatever the species, its king always differed in some way from its ordinary kin.
