Before long, a system notification suddenly rang out. Qin Shaofeng's face, speckled with a few drops of blood, curved into a faint smile.
Paired with his blood-soaked clothes, though, he looked rather sinister.
"System notification: Congratulations, player! You have reached the experience requirement for a level-up. Player Qin Shaofeng has advanced to Level 2!"

He'd leveled up!
Qin Shaofeng had returned to Body Tempering Second Layer, and at a truly astonishing speed.
Back when Qin Shaofeng had been known as Lanjiang City's number one genius, it had still taken him a full month to cultivate from Body Tempering First Layer to Body Tempering Second Layer, even with the aid of a great many medicinal herbs.
But now?
Had it been fifteen minutes, or thirty?
At the thought, Qin Shaofeng's heart surged with excitement. The bloodied knife in his hand whipped through the air even faster.
But soon, Qin Shaofeng's brows knitted slightly.
The experience gained from killing chickens and ducks hadn't changed; it was still one point per animal. But when Qin Shaofeng killed a Level 2 Domesticated Porcupine, he no longer gained five points. He got only one, the same as for a chicken or duck.
So as his level rose, the experience he gained from killing the same monsters would decrease too!
An hour later, Qin Shaofeng emerged from the kitchen's back courtyard, covered in blood.
Body Tempering Triple Layer!
Not a bad haul!
Qin Shaofeng was feeling rather pleased with himself.
But after this, all three or four hundred Giant Turkeys and Black Goose Ducks in the Qin Manor's rear courtyard—enough to feed the entire household for two or three months—had been killed, along with more than a hundred Domesticated Porcupines.
Faced with this unprecedented situation, Qin Dabao stood there dumbfounded for a long while.
At the residence of Old Master Qin, in Qin Manor.
After hearing the news brought by one of the household servants, Old Master Qin furrowed his brows slightly.
Killing chickens?
Could the boy really have been driven mad by a shock?
That couldn't be right!
Yue'er had told me this morning that nothing was wrong with him!
Old Master Qin was utterly baffled by Qin Shaofeng's behavior.
Though he didn't think his grandson would have been frightened into madness, after giving it some thought, he still issued an order to a seemingly empty spot beside him.
"Go keep a close eye on that boy. Arrange for two people to follow him as well. If anything unusual happens, report back at once!"
"Yes!"
The seemingly empty space rippled faintly, and a figure flashed away in an instant!
To conceal his presence and tracks so subtly, the person who had just left was clearly no ordinary character.
Old Master Qin had truly gone to great lengths to protect his grandson.
With the little maid looking utterly terrified, Qin Shaofeng—now changed into another blood-soaked outfit—walked leisurely along the streets of Lanjiang City.
Once he'd learned that he could really level up by killing monsters, Qin Shaofeng had come up with a plan.
He would level up!
That had reminded him of the Beast Arena in Lanjiang City.
The beasts in this world were far more powerful than those on Earth.
Take the chickens and ducks Qin Shaofeng had just killed. According to this world's terminology, they counted as Demonic Beasts.
They were the lowest-grade Demonic Beasts, though, and still considered ordinary beasts.
Demonic Beasts were classified in great detail in this world. Low-level Demonic Beasts were generally comparable to humans in the Body Tempering Realm and were also divided into ten layers.
By comparison, mid-level Demonic Beasts were on par with humans in the Houtian Realm, while high-level Demonic Beasts were the equivalent of Xiantian Martial Masters.
As for what kind of Demonic Beasts existed beyond the Xiantian level, Qin Shaofeng had no idea.
But that didn't matter. Right now, all Qin Shaofeng wanted was to find some low-level Demonic Beasts and raise his level.
The Beast Arena often dealt with low-level Demonic Beasts that were too badly injured to fight, so Qin Shaofeng had thought of going there.
After killing several hundred chickens and ducks, Qin Shaofeng understood that leveling up by relying on low-level Demonic Beasts alone would require a great many of them. Although he was the Qin Family's young master and received plenty of pocket money each month, and had saved up quite a bit over the years, it probably still wouldn't be enough to raise his level very far. The Demonic Beasts the Beast Arena needed to dispose of were usually the cheapest.
