At the same time Ren Ming and Old Hei were on the move, a secluded valley lay not far from the human battlefield base.
Although the battlefield was between humans and the Devil Race, these battlefields, large and small, were not home to humans and devils alone. Demonic beasts lived there, too.
First, it should be made clear that demonic beasts were not the Demon Race.
The Demon Race consisted of members of other races who had cultivated to a certain level and then taken human form.
Once a demonic beast took human form, it had two choices.
The first was to make its human form its true one, with its original body secondary. Those who chose this path generally became part of the Demon Race.
In a sense, once a demonic beast took human form, it had completely left behind its original body and gained some human traits and abilities.
The most obvious difference was how slowly demonic beasts cultivated. A thousand years of cultivation for a demonic beast might not yield as much as ten years of cultivation for a human genius.

Some members of the Demon Race could still take on their demonic-beast form in battle, but they were still far weaker than true demonic beasts.
The second choice was to keep the demonic-beast body as the main form and treat the human form as secondary.
