Dai Song and Dr. Dorr stayed outside the city. Xu Huo and Li Kun avoided the mechanical guards and entered the new District Government city, but the scene before them left them stunned. The streets, houses, factories... nearly everything visible as far as the eye could see had been bombed. Most of those active in the streets were mechanical men. Some were demolishing buildings, while others dragged survivors from the rubble or their hiding places and shot them dead!
This was clearly not the first round of slaughter. Red drag marks streaked many places, though there were no bodies in sight. Those dragged out were not Players or outsiders, either. Judging by their clothes, they seemed to be residents of the new District Government. Some tried to use Jammers to disable the mechanical men, but they had no effect. The mechanical men killed without hesitation.
"What the hell is going on..." A man in a government uniform knelt on the ground. Before he could finish his desperate question, a bullet blew his head apart.
"Give me back my baby..." In the distance, a woman struggled desperately to snatch the infant held aloft by a mechanical man. The next second, a hail of bullets tore through her chest and abdomen, and her child was slammed hard against the ground.
Li Kun was stunned by the one-sided massacre. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a shadow flash beside him, and a mechanical man in the distance went flying. The child, who should have hit the ground, was caught safely.
One child was easy to save, but the others weren't so lucky. Massacres like this were happening dozens, hundreds, even thousands of feet away. The mechanical men, who were supposed to protect the city's residents, seemed intent on killing everyone
