Based on their past experience, green doors and blue doors were relatively safe. But the blue door they had just opened had nearly scared them to death. Once they started doubting themselves, they became even more convinced that the words on the doors were a trap, and that there had to be something even more dangerous behind the green door... But whenever the thought crossed their minds, they instinctively felt the green door should be safe. Caught between these contradictory suggestions, they hesitated until the other doors started having problems.
"Bang!"
"Bang, bang!"
"Bang, bang, bang!"
The doors were struck one after another. With each deafening impact, cracks spread through the walls around the doorframes, and flakes of plaster and falling dust kept reminding them that they were running out of time!
"Right or wrong, we'll just have to risk it!" One of them suddenly grabbed the green door's handle. "Click!"
The moment the door opened, all the sounds of impacts around the room stopped. And there were no strange, grotesque monsters behind the green door—just a narrow lane leading to the street.
They exchanged glances and cautiously stepped outside. To their surprise, the lane led straight into the slums, right where they had been keeping watch earlier. Looking back at the place that had nearly cost them their lives, they saw nothing different from how it had always looked, let alone any monsters with eyeballs bigger than people.
"Was everything we just went through an illusion?" After a long silence, someone finally spoke. "He wasn't trying to kill us... or is everything we're seeing now actually an illusion?"
The others' expressions darkened at that. They had gone to great lengths to escape with their lives, only to be told that what they were seeing now might be fake, too?
