Xu Huo knew more than the others. The most crucial piece of information was the Potion he had obtained from Dr. Deng.
Perhaps Dr. Joyce had been conducting breeding experiments between humans and devolved humans, but he probably hadn't given up on finding a cure for Black Thorn Disease, either. The Potion Dr. Deng had given him was confirmed to be effective against the disease. They simply lacked more test subjects, so its effects were still unclear. But since they'd made some progress, Dr. Joyce probably wouldn't have abandoned this line of research entirely.
However, Dr. Joyce was dead, and it was hard to say how far the research had progressed. What's more, when the CK12 Players retreated, they must have taken the related experimental subjects with them, whether the Potion or the possibly existing Newborn, "Melissa."
Darkness Under the Lamp and the other Player had gone back to clearing away the sand. Xu Huo turned his back to them and took out the locator.
By the time they reached CK12, the needle on the locator had slowed considerably, but the area it covered had changed from a fan shape to a semicircle.
The other half of the locator wasn't inside the Safe Zone. It was moving around outside.
There was only one explanation: an Alien had taken the locator, and it had been passed around among the Alien population. It might have been one Alien or several, depending on how Dr. Joyce's locator had ended up on an Alien.
If it had been swallowed by accident, then it made little difference whether the Alien had died or whether the locator had passed from one Alien to another.
But if Dr. Joyce had deliberately placed the locator on an Alien, then this was their only lead.
