Before dawn, Xu Huo went to Qing City, a small-to-medium-sized city far from Station City.
This was where the ship mentioned on the Jixin Terminal had appeared. There had been more than one witness, and since the ship had shown up here after sustaining damage, the most likely explanation was that its destination was nearby.
Information on the Jixin Terminal spread quickly. By the time he arrived, many unofficial Flying Devices were already searching around the city. Most were headed outside the city, apparently suspecting that the Tian Family's secret industries were nearby.
Most buildings in the city barred unofficial Flying Devices from approaching or inspecting them. And with so many eyes around, anyone planning to do something illegal would be better off somewhere with fewer surveillance devices. As a result, more people focused their attention on the mountainous areas surrounding the city.
With District 008's technology, hollowing out a mountain and covering it over was no great challenge. So a place that looked like a vast mountain range might conceal a city inside. Although District 008 officially prohibited nongovernmental organizations from using mountains this way, no one could guarantee that none were doing so.
Of course, the city itself was also a possibility. Thanks to container-type props, moving large numbers of people without attracting attention was no difficult feat.
Xu Huo visited a repair company in Qing City. According to the Jixin Terminal, the company had received an order from Haiyun Technology to repair some of the ship's less technologically complex interior fixtures. He had the company's technicians investigate where the order was headed, and learned that the repaired fixtures were ultimately to be delivered to a Tian Family branch in Qing City.
Large equipment needed to be carried by transport vehicles. Xu Huo found
