A Mental Breakdown
The words landed among the crowd like a bomb, and the believers who had just relaxed erupted at once. "Who killed the Saintess?"
"How dare anyone kill the Saintess!"
"Kill him and avenge the Saintess!"
The believers, who had seemed filled with compassion just a moment ago, were suddenly overflowing with murderous intent. Their eyes naturally turned toward the Outer District Players in the square, full of resentment.
"Seriously, is there something wrong with your heads?" The long-haired Player had joined forces with a dozen or so other Players to confront the temple head-on, and they were all still in the middle of the square. The one speaking was a short-haired woman. She said irritably, "What does your Saintess's death have to do with us? Some of us only arrived in this Sub-district today, okay?"
"Besides, if the Saintess was murdered, you should investigate your own people first. She lived in the temple, and it's difficult enough for outsiders like us to even get inside!"
Her sarcastic but clearly reasonable words did nothing to restore the believers' composure. They firmly believed in only one thing:
"No one in our country would harm the Saintess except outsiders, and no one here could harm her!"
The Saintess lived in the temple, protected by the Divine Envoy and Players, and blessed by the Goddess. Their status was second only to the Divine Envoy's. It was absolutely impossible for anyone to kill them!
