This train wasn't crowded only in Xu Huo's carriage. The others weren't any better. With so many people aboard, more Players had come to the dining car for some air, and strangers and acquaintances alike were sharing tables.
As soon as Xu Huo walked in, he spotted several Cannibal Players gathered together. Each had only a token dessert in front of them. They'd used an item, so the people around them couldn't hear what they were saying.
"Mind if I join you?" Xu Huo walked straight over and sat down.
The Cannibal Players looked unhappy, but they didn't drive him away. One of the women said sarcastically, "You've already sat down, but at least you know to ask. How polite."
Xu Huo browsed the projected menu without looking up. "If I weren't polite, I'd ask you to find another table."
The woman's expression darkened. The other Cannibal Players at the table stopped her, and in the end, she held back.
As they ate, Xu Huo heard people in the same carriage talking about a contest: a fight to the death, initiated by the second-ranked Player on the B-class wormhole point's joint leaderboard against the first-ranked Player.
Each wormhole point had Player leaderboards for its various Sub-districts. All the Sub-districts under a single wormhole point also had a joint leaderboard. One tier above that was a leaderboard for wormhole points of the same class. It ranked up to fifty thousand Players. Those who made it onto a wormhole point's joint leaderboard were almost all elite among elites, the cream of the Player population. The higher their ranking, the more attention they attracted. Quite a few of them had already made a name for themselves, and some people might even recognize their game handles.
