It wasn't unusual for an item's effect to be activated from inside the body. As the number of items increased, and given the inconvenience of wearing some of them, many players chose to embed their more important small items in places like their palms or arms. That made them harder for others to remove or steal, and easier to use.
"You're sure they came from a high-level Wormhole Point?" Xu Huo asked skeptically. "Maybe they just have an item embedded in their body."
"Do I look stupid to you?" The round-faced player leaned closer, putting on a cautious air. "I saw it clearly. They absolutely didn't activate an item."
Even items embedded in the body usually needed to be activated by the player before they could be used. The exception was passive items, like Xu Huo's "Kitty Borrows Three Lives," which could judge whether the player was in danger and take effect automatically when they were.
"Ordinary passive Defense Artifacts have a limited number of uses. That person didn't seem to have any limit at all." The round-faced player continued, "It's the kind of showy thing rich people from high-level Wormhole Points love. They implant defensive devices in their bodies. On the surface, they look like ordinary people, but they're protected the whole time unless they deactivate it themselves. And there's an even more extreme version: they make an item with very few limitations and sew it right into their bodies. It's like some damn intelligent sensor system. They swagger around wherever they go."
Xu Huo ignored his complaints, but wasn't keen on paying for the information. "That's not much use to me."
