From Eerie to Awkward
Chi Cai came over to look, too. She'd thought it was someone else who had set their sights on the middle-aged man, but it turned out the person standing outside the Wooden Cabin was the man himself. It didn't look like he'd come out to clear his head, either. After circling the prop Wooden Cabin once, he headed for the village outskirts.
"Where's he going?" Chi Cai whispered. "Should we follow him and see?"
Before Xu Huo could answer, the green-haired female player and the man with a missing ear came out on the other side. Bubble Bean and the others weren't far behind.
Just as everyone tacitly began tailing the man, a strange gulping sound suddenly came from the forest in the other direction. It sounded as though the noise of food passing down someone's throat had been amplified, making it especially distinct in the night. But all the players knew there was no person or animal over there.
Could it be mimicking sounds?
Mimicking all kinds of sounds was no difficult feat for many species in nature. Their hidden friend might be using this trick to lure in the living. If that was what it was, making a gulping sound was entirely possible.
They exchanged glances. The green-haired female player and her companion continued following the middle-aged man, while Bubble Bean and the other two headed toward the sound. Xu Huo and the two who had come out later followed behind the green-haired female player.
The middle-aged man hadn't left Xu Huo's range of perception. Likewise, the source of the sound was only about two hundred meters from him. It wasn't anything strange, just a Mutated Plant that came out at night to feed. The sound was a small animal being swallowed whole through
