Gao Ming
On the way, Xu Huo learned that the man was named Gao Ming and had once been a surgeon. After his hometown was destroyed, he had wandered from place to place with some of his fellow townspeople. He had gone from being a first-class resident to a second-class resident, then from a second-class resident to a third-class resident. Not long after he'd started scavenging in the sewers, he lost his home again. He had a large group with him, many of them sick, and no city was willing to take them in, so they had no choice but to live in the wilderness.
Fortunately, the canyon had been polluted, so neither people nor Mutant Animals wanted anything to do with the area. Drawing on the knowledge he had picked up while wandering, he and the others had settled nearby.
They soon reached the place Gao Ming had mentioned. Things were better than Xu Huo had expected. A few simple wooden cabins stood among the trees, surrounded by a Fence. Some nearby land had been cleared, and the vegetables they had planted were growing well.

"Leave it to me, Doctor Gao!" The boy lifted the backpack with confidence.
Gao Ming smiled and patted him on the shoulder. "You'll be an adult soon. You'll be one of our mainstays in the future. Always remember to be cautious. The more careful you are, the longer you'll live."
