Side Quest
Xu Huo wasn't in a hurry to leave, but the others weren't nearly as patient. The Gourmet and the Botanist had been at odds, to the point that they could barely stand the sight of each other. But as soon as Mr. Wen returned, they went about their own business.
The Botanist claimed he needed to make one final inspection. Aside from eating and sleeping, he spent almost all his time in the garden. He was there at night, too, but after midnight, the butler would come out and remind him to go back to bed.
The Gourmet's task was to nurse Mr. Wen back to health. Apart from going to the kitchen, he would seek out Mr. Wen in person to check on his condition. He frequently went in and out of Mr. Wen's Study Room and bedroom.
The Scholar came to see Xu Huo twice. Each time, he subtly tried to influence him. Whatever he was looking for seemed to have something to do with Mr. Wen, so his main goal was probably to use Xu Huo to find out where Mr. Wen kept his personal belongings.
Xu Huo also met Mr. Wen the next day. Harry had strongly recommended him, believing Mr. Wen's poor health was at least partly connected to his state of mind, and had done his best to persuade Mr. Wen to see a psychologist.
Xu Huo played the part, but Mr. Wen seemed less interested in seeing a doctor than in not turning down a younger person's kindness. From the start, he made it clear that he didn't want therapy and only wanted to have a casual chat.
Xu Huo went along with it, sharing a few things he'd seen and then steering the conversation toward flowers, which Mr. Wen liked.
