When they returned to Whale Garden the next day, Madam Ruo had recovered. There was more of a smile on her face, and she was much more affectionate toward them. She no longer shut down the conversation after just a few exchanges, as she had the first time they met.
During their conversation, she brought up how her personalities got along. The reason she lived alone in Whale Garden was that sometimes her siblings would suddenly emerge and kill people. Of course, their victims weren't exactly good people, but disposing of the bodies gave her quite a headache.
She had left the game long ago and become a Gray Player. Although District 022 no longer had any hold over her, if she killed too many people, the government could still interfere if it really wanted to. And she had a feeling that something was brewing lately, and certain people were growing less and less patient with her.
She wasn't determined to stay in District 022, but if possible, she didn't want to move just yet. She had grown used to life here.
"This isn't really about disposing of bodies, is it?" Gong Ying said. "Nine times out of ten, someone's trying to force you to comply. Forget bodies—even if you stepped on an ant, they could use it to attack you."
Madam Ruo chuckled. "It's not quite that bad. I suspect it's someone from my past."
Gong Ying looked surprised. "You have enemies?"
"I have plenty." Madam Ruo said, "I joined the Game Government Base a long time ago. I cleared Dungeons while working for the Game Government. The reason I was able to retire so early and live out my days in peace was that I made significant contributions. Most of those contributions were human lives."
