Chapter 2926: Declaring War
In the core Safe Zone in Capital City, X Country's most important leaders—including player representatives who had risen to prominence in the past two years—as well as members of the Special Defense Department and the Special Player Strategy Group, had gathered in an underground conference room built with brand-new materials.
At the center of the conference table, screens projected twenty-four separate feeds, continuously updating reports on the fighting across the country and throughout the district.
That was right: an all-out war had erupted across District 014. In addition to Player Wars between countries within the sub-district, the district's fusion with the game had brought more and more Ticket players from other sub-districts through different Wormhole Points. After completing their Dungeons, some people with ulterior motives hadn't left right away. They had stayed behind, waiting for an opportunity.
Looting local governments' reserves of game resources was a minor matter. More importantly, they were searching for Evolution resources in District 014. And then there were those who simply wanted to sow chaos, appearing from time to time to destroy cities and slaughter people.
X Country had long since run through its contingency plans, but the resources available to each city were limited. Even with defensive barriers deployed across the entire country, a single layer of protection was no insurmountable obstacle for Outer District Players. Destroying a city often took no more than a wave of their hands.
Proportionally, there weren't many people acting without any goal beyond venting their emotions. Still, apart from the rapidly evolving flora and fauna and the sudden appearance of Random Instances, they were causing the greatest loss of life in the country. At present, X Country's Players who weren't stationed in critical core areas had begun moving toward the attacked cities.
