Purple Stone and Hidden Risks
Xu Huo looked down and realized he had chopped through a tree root. Beneath its bark lay a pale purple stone about the size of a human head. It looked much like the Sub-class Stone he had found in the animal's nest earlier, only much larger, and it gave off a faint glow.
He picked up a piece of bark to examine it. To his surprise, a layer of metal-like substance had grown beneath it, and it could partially interfere with the penetration of mental power.
The trees in the jungle had plenty of swollen knots in their roots and trunks. That had been obvious when they cut down the mutated trees parasitized by purple vines. Xu Huo hadn't paid much attention to it before, but he hadn't expected this tree to be different—to have a Sub-class Stone inside its roots.
"Now that's a good find!" Jin Xiang hurried over, eyes shining.
"A Sub-class Stone, and a piece this big. You could make a lot of items with it. You've struck it rich," Xu Huo said.
"Forget it, forget it. I didn't find it." Jin Xiang quickly declined, then added, eyes gleaming, "I'll dig around some more. There might be others!"
As he spoke, he called the others over too. They set to work digging enthusiastically. "I knew my luck couldn't be that bad. After taking such a huge hit, Heaven has to give me something in return!"
Xu Huo spread out his Spiritual World and extended it underground to inspect the roots. There were plenty of swollen knots, large and small, but a quick cut with Space Power showed that most of them didn't contain stones. Still, since a Sub-class Stone had appeared here, there was probably an Origin Stone as well.
