The shout startled the other players sharing the room. They sprang up on reflex, immediately shielding themselves with defensive devices before checking inside and outside the room.

"Brother Zong, there's nothing here," a player said to Zong Lanzhi, who had hurried over.

"I was half asleep, but I really did see something on the ceiling," Zeng Guangyao said, certain he hadn't imagined it. "It was a monster with a human body and a scaly tail."

"Could you have been mistaken?" Jiang Ke asked. What he really wanted to ask was whether Zeng Guangyao had hallucinated. After all, he was a Mental Evolver, so perhaps his mind was more active than most.
