Xu Huo rested for a while, then went downstairs to find something to eat.
He asked the hotel staff where to go for local specialties. Not long after he left the hotel, he saw two armed robots chasing a Player.
The person fleeing was probably a local Player and seemed very familiar with how the armed robots pursued their targets. In the end, though, an automated spider Lock caught him and carried him away. The people doing business along the street were used to seeing this. Only a few older folks lamented that young people were going astray, wasting public resources for no reason, and taking up government space when they were locked up for a lesson.
Xu Huo listened for a while. Apparently, this happened often, mostly with inexperienced Players. As long as they did not commit any serious crimes, the government would not punish them harshly. Players were important assets to local governments. Although these Players all wanted to make their way to a first-level region, district policies required local governments to submit a List of Players who met a certain evaluation level at set times each year. Many Players' progress was monitored by the District Government, and the local government did not dare do much to them.
"That's not so bad. At least there's something fun to watch. Look at people these days, all so listless. Nothing like how full of life we were when we were young..."
Xu Huo found somewhere to eat. The owner was very welcoming and even gave him a menu packed with local specialties, cheerfully recommending many signature dishes.
"My son officially got his residence permit for a second-level region today. Everything's 30 percent off. Tell me what flavors you like, sir, and I'll make some recommendations."
Xu Huo congratulated him, then
