The one who initiated this death challenge was Liu Yi. She controlled some of the variables, while Xu Huo, the one being challenged, controlled some as well. Yet neither of them had truly participated in it in the end; instead, another uncontrollable variable had fulfilled the prediction.
"What role do you want to play in this?" Xu Huo asked. "The universe?"
Liu Yi shook her head slightly. "I'm only one variable in the whole matter. Haven't you noticed? Even if neither you nor I were here at this moment, it would still happen. But if Sisi hadn't acted, those two might have died because of you and me."
"Only the people who die are necessary roles."
"The killer isn't?" Xu Huo raised a brow. "Did you foresee the entire process of me killing you, or only me standing beside your corpse?"
"You mean someone else might intervene in the middle, and what I foresaw was only a fragment." Liu Yi smiled. "If not to kill you, how else would our paths cross?"
That was an absolutely uncontrollable variable.
"You should leave District 009." Xu Huo paused after saying it himself. The visions of the future could not possibly contain every detail. Liu Yi believed she would die in District 009, but was it really District 009?
Liu Yi had clearly considered this long ago. "Who's to say leaving voluntarily wouldn't also be part of bringing about the final outcome?"
She had seen District 009, but what if it was somewhere similar to District 009?
So whether she left or not, she could not cut off every possibility. Rather than waste her efforts, she might as well let nature take its course.
"I've already given up," she added. "But if you have any good ideas, tell me. I'll cooperate with you."
