Xu Huo's Arrangements
Though he called it borrowing, Xu Huo wasn't so shameless as to take the vehicle without paying. He left the owner a generous sum of money.
After accepting the money, the owner asked, "Your legs aren't in good shape. Would you like me to drive you?"
"No need." Xu Huo stood up, stretched his arms and legs, and lifted the wheelchair into the old van.
"Is there anything you need to take?" he asked Xiao Yuan. "I'll go back with you to get it."
"Nope." Xiao Yuan pulled a small glass bottle from around her neck. "This is all I need!"
Inside was a tooth.
Seeing that she really had nothing she was attached to, Xu Huo gestured for her to sit in the passenger seat, then started the van and drove toward the outskirts of town.
No one controlled who entered or left a town this small, but plenty of ordinary people still watched the streets. Xu Huo was leaving. Of course, the town couldn't keep him; he would have left sooner or later. But he was taking Xiao Yuan with him.
The adults watching from inside their homes looked on with envy and regret. Several little street children ran frantically after the van.
