The Day You Die in Front of Me

Jiang Jiang really was trapped.

She had used every item at her disposal, but none of them could open the Spiritual World. The person affected was her. She seemed to be destroying the Book Tower, but perhaps what she was facing wasn't the real Spiritual World at all. Or perhaps she thought she had used an item when she hadn't.

Under mental interference, Players sometimes couldn't tell reality from illusion.

Jiang Jiang knew a little about this, too, so she understood that the longer this went on, the worse it would be for her. She used an item specifically designed to counter mental powers for the second time.

The room did collapse, but it quickly closed back up, giving her no chance to escape.

The facts were right in front of her. Either Xu Huo's Spiritual World covered a much larger area than she had imagined, or his Super Evolution in mental abilities far exceeded that of other Mental Evolvers at the same level.

Neither possibility was good news for Jiang Jiang.

She had actually known about Xu Huo before he knew of her. They had never met, and she hadn't known his name or identity, but when she first began foreseeing her death, she had glimpsed his figure.

As she had said, her visions of death were scenes she saw through her Ability. Once she saw them, they couldn't be changed. The time of death might shift, but the manner of death would not. She had foreseen her own death more than once, and even after learning that she would die in District 009, she had chosen to stay.

Just before District 009 merged with another district, she saw the full scene of her death: she would die in an art gallery, with a handsome man standing beside her.
