Xu Huo couldn't sense anyone nearby.

The chances of a D-class player being snatched away by Mutated Plants in the forest without any opportunity to fight back were lower than the chances of her leaving on her own. So he didn't linger. He stuck a note to a tree and continued toward the summit.

Every so often, he would leave the ground and take a look around to make sure he was heading in the right direction. But just as he was nearing the summit, the entire mountain suddenly changed.

It wasn't simply that he had lost his way. The mountain's orientation had changed.

When Xu Huo had started climbing, the mountain had been due east. He and Zhuang Mengtian had climbed with their backs to the sun. The ground had shifted several times along the way, but judging by the sun, the overall directions hadn't changed.

Now the sun was nowhere to be seen, and the compass on his watch was still accurate, yet the mountain had shifted from east to south.

The direction of the setting sun and the way the plants grew hadn't changed, but he could feel that the mountain had moved.

Without further delay, Xu Huo grabbed the Strings and headed straight to the summit through the air.

From above, the scenery in every direction around the mountain looked exactly the same. Even the marks he had left in the woods had disappeared.

Plants could move, so it was only natural for the marks to shift or vanish. But that absolutely couldn't make a mountain change its orientation.

Xu Huo was certain he hadn't been carried to the other side of the mountain by a moving plant. That made the simultaneous shifts in the sun's direction and the way the plants grew
