A Cute Little Rabbit

The day dragged by in misery. The tree-lined stretch between the two mining zones was like the filling in a sandwich—so tightly squeezed between them that it offered little relief from the heat. At least it gave the vehicles a chance to cool down.

Shangguan Xi took off his soaked clothes, wrung them out, and tossed them back into the Storage Compartment. Hugging the ice bucket, he said, "If we weren't in the middle of nowhere, I'd take my pants off too."

"No one wants to see you with your bare ass out," Pan Qiao teased, using an item to cool Kuang Wenjun down.

Kuang Wenjun was wearing the most layers. Even after taking off her jacket, she still had on long sleeves and pants. She seemed to hate the strange looks people gave her, so she hadn't even taken off her hat.

Everyone was so overheated and on edge that no one cared about her past.

"I'm stepping out for a minute." Shangguan Xi tossed his empty water bottle aside and headed behind a big tree. As soon as he reached the grass, a fluffy rabbit sprang out. It looked delicious.

"Looks like we've got something to eat..." Before he could make a move, the seemingly harmless little rabbit suddenly opened its huge mouth, bared a row of saw-like teeth, and lunged at him!

"Smack!" Shangguan Xi reacted quickly, slipped on a Glove, and slapped it dead. He was just about to bend down and pick it up when a second and then a third rabbit leaped out of the grass, both lunging at him!

Dealing with two rabbits was no problem. But after he killed those two, several more leaped out, and soon there was a whole pile of them.
