A flash of embarrassment crossed the boss's face, but he quickly put on a smile. "Brother Ma, this is a bar customer from out of town. Since you've got time to come drink today, and we just got a batch of good liquor in, I opened a bottle for you."

The man called Brother Ma stopped paying attention to Xu Huo and slung an arm around the boss's waist with a grin as they headed into the bar. "I leave you alone for a moment, and you're already batting your eyes at other men, you little flirt. If you don't drink with me till I'm satisfied tonight, I'm not paying for the booze!"

The boss caught his wandering hand, smiling apologetically as he ushered him inside.

"Wait." Xu Huo called after them. The two lackeys behind Brother Ma immediately stepped forward to block his way.

Xu Huo pulled a small roll of White Cash from his pocket, peeled off a hundred, and held it out. "Sorry to trouble you, but could you save me two dishes?"

The boss quickly broke away from Brother Ma and came over to take the money.

After glancing at Brother Ma, Xu Huo slowly slipped the money back into his pocket and walked down the street.

The incineration plant wasn't far from here, just over ten minutes away on foot. He slowed his pace, bought a bottle of water along the way, and casually asked the shopkeeper if anywhere nearby was hiring.
