Chapter 954: Climbing the Canopy Pillar
But that wasn't the point. Setting the genetic issue aside for now, the mass deaths among the infected weren't impossible to contain. W06 Base City had already set a precedent, so the other surviving base cities should have large reserves of Antidote. It made no sense that the SE virus remained unsolved. Letting the virus survive in infected people was like leaving a time bomb ticking. In a base station as vast as this, it was impossible that no Player had found an Antidote that could cure it completely.
Since the SE virus weakened with each stage of transmission and over time, it was clear that its developers hadn't created it merely to cut off the future of certain base cities. They had added these effects for a reason.
It would take at least fifteen years for the suppression of Evolver genes to show results. Contrary to what Teacher Ai had said, the SE virus was meant to kill—perhaps that was even its primary purpose.
Whether in the old base stations or the current ones, rapidly growing populations and desperately scarce resources were the biggest problems.
"No targeted Antidote?" Xu Huo asked after a moment's thought. "01 Base dared to release this virus, so they must have a way to save themselves."
Teacher Ai gave a crooked smile. "There are idiots in this world who don't think things through."
"If they really had an Antidote, so many people wouldn't have died." The square-faced man tugged at his hair. "A third of the population—so many children died in all this... I don't understand. Why does W11 still have an original SE sample?"
Though the square-faced man was a retired security guard from the government laboratory, he looked under fifty. Compared with Teacher Ai's anger, he
