Chapter 379: The Mask Game

Deng Xuan watched the young man in a tracksuit until he doubled back the way he'd come. Then he reached out and put a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, are you looking for someone?"

The young man looked at him in confusion. Deng Xuan withdrew his hand. "Sorry, I mistook you for someone else."

The young man nodded and walked away. Deng Xuan spoke into his Communicator behind him. "Brother Jing, I'm heading back."

Deng Xuan left the shop and made his way into the crowd. His two companions outside also split up, heading in different directions.

Xu Huo sipped his juice and set off in another direction. Deng Xuan and his two companions had watched him for less than half a minute. After he left the Beverage Shop, they stopped paying attention to him. But two other people, keeping a considerable distance between them, watched him until he left the Mall. One of them followed him all the way to the central transit station.

Pretending not to notice he was being followed, he entered the station without boarding a train. Instead, he sneaked over to the storage lockers, picked a well-off-looking passerby, and swiped the man's electronic card to open a locker. After rummaging around inside for a while, he shut it again. On his way out, he accidentally knocked over the half-finished cup of juice.

The juice spilled everywhere, but he ignored it and hurried out, then boarded a hover train.

His pursuer didn't follow him. Instead, the man turned back toward the lockers. As soon as his attention shifted, the Good Friend Value began to drop. Xu Huo knew he was going to check the locker.

At the next stop, Xu Huo went into the restroom and changed into the Clown Suit.
