The New Heir
"Were He Pu and him good friends?" Xu Huo wiped his hands.
"They weren't particularly close, but Duke Tar is a very useful connection," Mr. Dong said. "Mr. He Pu bought his baronial title, so it can't be inherited. Once he dies, the title will be stripped from him. If you want to become a baron, you'd do well to build a good relationship with Duke Tar."
As they spoke, Xu Huo had already reached the second floor. Beside the spot where He Pu's portrait had hung, there was now a space reserved for another painting. Clearly, a new portrait was going to be hung there.
"I have a question. Do you consider me the heir to Rose Castle?" He turned and asked.
"Do you wish to inherit Rose Castle?" Mr. Dong asked in return. "If you inherit the castle, you can inherit everything belonging to Mr. He Pu."
"Including those artifacts and Potions?"
"Those items are my private collection, gifted to me by Mr. He Pu," Mr. Dong said. "They aren't included among the things to be inherited."
Xu Huo smiled at him. "Are you a Super Artifact?"
Mr. Dong fell silent, offering no answer.
"Looks like we haven't built up enough trust yet," Xu Huo said. "Did He Pu have any requirements for his heir?"
"None," Mr. Dong replied. "You may do as you please with the castle. You can sell it, give it away, or destroy it."
Xu Huo was a little surprised, but then Mr. Dong continued, "However, I won't allow you to damage the castle."
Within the castle, Mr. Dong was the one truly in control. His existence must have been inseparable from the castle, so even though this place was no longer a Dungeon, he could still freely control its buildings.
