Blood-Red Game
There was more than one room in the Club. Xu Huo saw the lights behind everyone's seats flash one by one, then, a few seconds later, light up in sequence a second time. Afterward, the room's audio system came on:
"Congratulations, VIP No. 17, on winning the right to draw. Next, buttons numbered one through ten will appear before you. Each button corresponds to a Lockdown Chamber, each containing a different kind of Alien: carnivores that have been deprived of food and water for at least three days, new evolved species that enjoy torturing their prey, and mutated Aliens in heat. Simply choose any one of these ten buttons."
VIP No. 17 wasn't in Xu Huo's room. A few seconds later, the result was announced: "VIP No. 17 has chosen Lockdown Chamber No. 3. The show is about to begin."
The voice began counting down again. The woman in the Holographic Projection flinched at each number, until, at the final "zero," a black shadow suddenly sprang out from one side, trampling her as it slammed her into the sealed wall around the stage!
Though the metal wall was dented by the impact, the woman wasn't injured. She braced herself against the Black Panther that had pounced on her with both hands and feet. It was probably a mutated Black Panther. It was only a little larger than an ordinary leopard, but all its teeth had grown sharp. They looked like two rows of little saw blades, and its fangs were unusually long. When it roared, the corners of its mouth split open, with only a layer of pink membrane holding its upper and lower jaws together. Its mouth could also open extraordinarily wide.
"Roar! Roar!" The Black Panther's claws dug deep into the woman's hands and feet. With
