The ground shimmered under the sustained heat. Several corpses lay sprawled across it, their eyes still open. Xu Huo went over, cut off Gao Peng's head, and casually pulled off his Protective Suit to wrap it up. Then he turned back to find the two children.
Fish Ball poked his head out, eyes shining. Snow Cake stood behind him, too afraid to look up.
When he saw Xu Huo approaching, Fish Ball opened his mouth and babbled something. Xu Huo read his lips and caught the words "You're amazing." He smiled slightly and told him to strip off the Protective Suit.
Fish Ball was quick-witted. When he didn't have the strength to pull it off, he simply picked up Cen Lu's knife, slashed the suit apart, and tore it free.
Xu Huo told them to wrap their heads and shoulders in the suits. He also gave each of them a Lollipop, then carried Gao Peng's head toward the site in the commercial building.
The lookouts in the distance had already gone back to report. So when he led the children over, the gates were shut tight. No one came out to avenge Gao Peng and the others—not even to show their faces.
Xu Huo roughly sensed where the people inside were and didn't waste time. Just then, the Life Core finished cleaning itself. Since he didn't know the item's exact parameters, he only left his hand there for two seconds before pulling it back. The moment he did, the metal frame welded around the gate and the reinforced metal doors behind it all crumbled into dust. Part of the floor on the other side collapsed along with them!
