The Special Defense Department had plenty of experience dealing with Players. Besides anesthetics and anesthetic gas, they also had stun guns and specialized electric nets. The nets were especially effective: there was no need to confront a Player head-on. They only had to set the nets beforehand and lure someone into them.
Of course, the Department relied more on Abilities and items to deal with Players. This time, they'd spared no expense. Elite Players in dark blue uniforms and Black Leather Gloves moved between every small skirmish, using items alongside armed personnel and other Players to capture people.
As Xu Huo passed an office building, a Player used "Feet on the Ground," bringing him down with them. He landed right in the middle of the battlefield.
The item's effect was limited to that, though. After casually killing two Cannibal Players, he rose into the air again and picked up speed before the Special Defense Department's Players could identify him as an enemy.
The Special Defense Department had accumulated more resources than he'd expected. That wasn't surprising, though. As long as they could buy items, they had money to spare, and getting high-level items wasn't difficult.
Just before the first three minutes were up, he was stopped by a dense Fog Zone.
Fog in winter was strange, but after circling around and realizing he couldn't leave the Fog Zone, he knew he'd been caught in a trap. Sensing someone approaching through the fog, he quickly changed course and circled around to one side. On closer inspection, he saw a group of people in black.
