"There weren't any wax figures in the lounge when we came out," Bai Wenxian said.
Xu Huo gestured for Xie Ling to continue.
"After I entered the Wax Figure Museum, the door behind me closed. Someone was knocking on the outside, and from the sound, it seemed to be coming from the lower half of the door. I was afraid of whatever had pushed me inside, so I wanted to get out first. Or I could meet up with Xu Ruosi and Long Aotian."
"I hadn't gone far when I felt someone following me. When I looked back, there was a wax figure that looked like a middle-aged man. It was exactly like the one in Xu Ruosi's ghost story!"
"Wait," Bai Wenxian interrupted. "What do you mean, exactly like it? How do you know it was the same as the one Xu Ruosi described?"
"The middle-aged male ghost following the boy. Isn't that the same thing?" Xie Ling raised her voice slightly.
Bai Wenxian looked at a loss for words and simply fell silent.
Xie Ling continued. She had been startled when the wax figure first appeared, but she hadn't reached D-class on luck alone. She'd reacted quickly and destroyed the figure right away. Once she realized the wax figure couldn't actually attack her, the fear had eased considerably. Just then, she heard footsteps ahead—Xu Ruosi's real footsteps.
"I can tell people apart by their footsteps. Once I was sure it was Xu Ruosi, I hurried after her. But when I reached the next room, I found her unconscious. I was just about to go over when someone put a hand on my shoulder... Then I passed out. When I woke up, I saw you." She turned to Xu Huo. "Mr. Yu, thank you for saving me."
"You're welcome."
