As the man approached, his gaunt cheeks and stern expression came into view.
An unapproachable air of distance radiated from him.
His black leather boots landed without a sound, yet each step was firm and deliberate.
He was a stubborn man.
Xiao Xiao was just about to speak when a glint of cold light flashed at the corner of his eye.
A chill crept into his expression.
The beast's tail suddenly stiffened, sweeping in front of it. Just as it was about to knock away the little knife once again—the one it knew all too well, and that had struck it so many times—a slender hand had already caught it.
It blinked and followed the hand upward.
"Quack-quack~ Quack-quack~"
Lord Xiao Xiao?
Xiao Xiao looked at the man who had attacked without warning.
The man, too, turned his attention away from the beast and looked at the young man before him—the one he had assumed was merely a passerby who happened to be there.
But before long, his gaze grew increasingly cold and sinister.
"Monsters."
His low, slightly hoarse voice was filled with undisguised disgust and murderous intent.
In his eyes, the white monster perched on the young man's shoulder was reflected, along with the dark shadow atop the young man's head as he lifted it slightly.
"Fei Fei~"
Fei Fei narrowed his eyes, their shape sharpening into keen arcs.
His silver-blue eyes were like polar glaciers, hard and icy, without the slightest warmth. The chill seeped into the bone.
"Awuu~"
Taotie regarded the brazen human with a haughty air.
What a fool. He dared direct murderous intent at Lord Taotie.
It bared its teeth in a savage grin.
Dark flames burned in its eyes.
At last, the man fixed his gaze on Xiao Xiao's face.
