"Xiao Hua's back?"
The old man inside the house heard the noise and strode outside.
When he saw his grandson, the old man was just about to smile, but the thing in the boy's arms turned his half-formed smile into a look of confusion. "Xiao Hua, what's that you're holding?"
"A cat."
The boy answered honestly.
The old man rolled his eyes. "I know it's a cat."
"I'm not senile yet."
"I'm asking why you brought a cat home."
"Xiao Hua, where did you get a cat?"
The old woman asked in surprise.
She had noticed the cat in her grandson's arms right away, but hadn't had a chance to ask about it yet.
The boy pressed his lips together.
Then he took a deep breath in his heart.
"Grandpa, Grandma."
The child's solemn manner made the two old people pause.
"Hmm? What is it, Xiao Hua?"
Confusion and concern mingled on the old woman's face.
"This is Little Black."
The boy lifted the kitten in his arms slightly.
"Meow~"
As if it knew this was a crucial moment, the kitten behaved very obediently.
"Ah? Oh."
The old woman nodded. "Little Black."
But the confusion on her face only deepened.
The old man looked at his grandson, then at the cat in his arms, and slowly furrowed his brows.
Could this child be...
"This is my cat."
"I want to keep Little Black at home."
The boy shouted.
His arms tightened slightly around Little Black.
Though he tried to hold back his nerves, his face still betrayed his anxiety.
The silence that followed from his grandparents only made him more flustered.
"I'll take care of Little Black."
"I'll share my food with him."
"Little Black is very well-behaved."
"Little Black isn't well enough to live outside right now..."
